Grantmaking:
Our Impact

Learning instead of proving

At Roots & Wings, we think about impact a little differently. Because we value our partners’ time, we don’t ask them to complete lengthy evaluations just for us. Instead, to understand how our partners think about their impact, we look at the information they are already sharing through their websites, annual reports, and updates. We also invest our time in relationship building, so that we can get familiar with their challenges, successes and opportunities.

We value our partners, their programs, and their people, so a big part of our work is to learn alongside the organizations we support. We see our impact in terms of how well we respond to our partners and how well our grantmaking practices align with trust-based philanthropy.

Our grant making by geography

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Roots & Wings makes grants nationally, with a particular focus on Wisconsin, Washington, and Oregon, where the Faulkners and their family reside. This interactive map shows where our partners are making a difference.
