Our goal at Roots & Wings is to help children have a strong start in life, so that they can reach their full potential. To us, a strong start means a child is healthy, safe, loved and learning. This is why we support basic needs, early learning, health, safety & justice.
In order to promote health for the whole child, we work hard to address the Social Drivers of Health. We also think a lot about ways to prevent trauma early in life, funding those whose work is focused on preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences. Helping children grow strong from the roots up means investing in the full continuum of their development. This begins with prenatal care and early brain development and spans a wide range of supports that families need to help their young children thrive.
Because we know just how crucial the earliest years of a child’s life are in shaping their future, we prioritize in-depth, wrap-around support early in childhood to help set children on a path for success. That includes support for organizations providing direct care, as well as organizations advocating for future change. This way we can help families in need now, and prevent future generations of families from experiencing the same challenges.
